What is UL2464 Cable?

UL2464 is a separate style number, verified to be accurate, and is a safety identifier for cables that meet specific vital parameters. UL2464 can be used as a safety factor in conjunction with other safety regulations such as CSA, VDE, CCC, CE, etc.

UL2464 cable is a polyvinyl chloride insulated and sheathed UL cable, and it can be used for internal and external wiring of electronic equipment (e.g., office computer systems, CNC machines, X-ray machines, etc.). It complies with UL subjects UL758 and UL1581. It contains sheathing, AL-MYLAR, conductor, and insulation. The insulation complies with the AWM procedure for the product. 2 or more single-stranded cables. Twisted cables can be placed in parallel or flat, oval or round cables.

PVC sheath insulation of uniform thickness can be easily cut or peeled. It is shielded in aluminum foil, tinned copper, or bare copper. Passes UL VW-1 & CSA FT1 vertical flammability tests. Good heat, flame, and cold resistance, able to withstand specific mechanical external forces and abrasion resistance, easy to distinguish core colors, and easy to install.

UL2464 Cable Structure

  • Tinned, stranded, annealed, or solid copper conductors.
  • Semi-rigid PVC insulation or PVC insulation.
  • The core cable is under an aluminum adhesive tape shield.
  • Tinned stranded copper row cable.
  • Tinned braided copper shield, 85% coverage.

Characteristics of UL2464 Cable

Environmental and Safety

UL2464 complies with European Directive 2015/863/EU and 2011/65/EU, restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

UL2464 does not contain substances of very high concern (SVHC) exceeding 0.1% by mass, as listed in the EU Candidate List Reach 1907/2006/EC.

UL2464 samples have been tested to standard EN 50525-1:2011 and verified to comply with Council Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.

Differences of UL2464 and UL2468

  • The voltage ratings are the same, and both are 300V.
  • The temperature ratings are the same; both are 80 degrees Celsius.
  • UL2464 cable is insulated and sheathed (round cable), while 2468 is a flat ribbon construction, mostly insulated.
