What are Power Cables?
Modern power cables come in various sizes, materials, and types, each particularly adapted to its uses. Large single-insulated conductors are also sometimes called power cables in the industry.
Features of the power cable

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
PVC is the most common and cheapest option for a given cable design; it offers good flexibility, low cost, and reasonable durability. It also provides good resistance to Oil and water.
Natural rubber ensures flexibility, even at sub-zero temperatures. Rubber is waterproof, chemical resistant, extremely flexible, and retains its flexibility over a wide range of temperatures. Due to its high cost, synthetic rubber compounds are available to create more economical solutions which offer very similar performance.

Types of Power Cables
According to the type of plug

Identify the Correct Power Cable Plug
The first choice concerns the plug pattern. As several plug patterns are used worldwide, determining the correct one is essential. When deciding on the correct plug pattern, remember that while some look similar, that does not mean it is the correct cable for the equipment.
For example, the North American and Japanese Class plugs look alike. However, North American cables do not carry the Japanese approval symbol and therefore should not be exported for use in Japan. The same applies to Japanese cables, which will not have North American approval.
Another example is the similarities in appearance in the Australian, Argentinean, and Chinese plug patterns, but again there are important differences between the three. Determine the Rating of the power cable or cable set.
Determine the power cable rating
It’s crucial to know the amperage and voltage rating that is required for the equipment being exported. Higher or lower amperage can mean a different plug pattern, even in the same country. Amperage requirements also affect the cable size.
Choose the Correct Cable
There are differences between North American and international cable, which are not interchangeable. North American cable cannot be used in countries with international cable standards and vice-versa.
For example, removing a North American plug from a cable set made with North American cable and replacing it with a Continental European plug will not make the cable set acceptable for Europe.

Rating of power cables

For example, a power cable set with a 15A plug and a 10A connector on a 13A power cable would have an overall rating of 10A.
